When responding to the brief design the world you want ‘the bot table’ was created to reflect the way in which we use technology in society and in our homes and shine a light on the scary possibilities of the future. The table is meant to look like it can walk and compute all on its own, much like robots do. Whilst it seems unnecessary to have a walking table in your house, the way technology has made its way into everyone’s homes, phones and daily lives, it’s scary to think how long it will take before we have walking or moving furniture. But is this really the future we want?
Tess is a 26 year old emerging designer based in Melbourne (Naarm/Birrarung-ga). Her practices span across furniture, objects and material development. Tess’ designs are playful and experimental as she is interested in creating unique pieces and whilst trialling new techniques and exploring what is possible to expand her practices. Tess is also one half of the creative duo behind misc objet, a collaboration between two friends focusing on building a diverse creative community through collaboration, exploration and curation.
